Lentils: Third Culture Kitchens | Womena

A recipe to warm the soul, this week “Third Culture Kitchens” delves into the nutritious world of lentils. Considered ‘the poor man’s proteins,’ this accessible ally can be adapted into many hearty dishes.

Guest Zeina Zeitoun joins Nadia to talk about the joy and connection that recreating her family’s dishes brings her. “When you’re brought up watching the women in your families make these dishes and then you do it too, it’s like this is who i am, and it’s something i’m really good at.”

Photographer Zeina Zeitoun On Navigating Lebanese Culture with American Audiences - Interview

“As a collective, we wanted to take time to highlight those that are doing the hard work of pursuing their own creative and academic goals, while also paving the way to further the representation of marginalized people in the arts and humanities. We have called this series, Taking Our Seat. For our current feature, we sat down with artist, Zeina Zeitoun.” - Shades Collective

Volume 1: Light Upon Light

Reconstructed Magazine begins with Volume 1: Light Upon Light. This volume is dedicated to those exploring the ways in which light refracts within themselves and their communities. To those nurturing the parts of themselves that seek light, feel light, and kneel toward sources of light. May we all be luminous.”

Virtual Cooking Workshop for Beirut

As a Lebanese-American with familial roots overseas, I have been deeply affected by the plethora of images and reports out of Lebanon. The economic collapse and the August 4th blast decimated parts of our once, yet still, beautiful Beirut. I had a necessary responsibility to help in whatever way I knew how. My goal, and everyone else's, was to understand and then elevate the voices of the victims and the Lebanese on the frontlines. Through digital outreach and collaboration with my dear friend Nadia, I approached this challenge with an open mind and room for future possibilities. I was able lead a campaign that both raised awareness, and funds, that supported rebuilding efforts and provided people with basic needs. This campaign was near to our hearts, and we were so pleased with the results.
